Our Top Tips For Winter Layering
Many find winter difficult to dress for. A lot of us just pop on a chunky jumper and that’s as far as our winter fashion goes!
Colder weather doesn’t mean you have to lose your sense of style, the key is to embrace layering! Layering can intimidate some, but we promise you it’s not as hard as you may think. We’ve rounded up our top tips for winter layering, so you can give it a go yourself. Get ready to be cosy and oh-so-fashionable!
Start with a great base layer
Base layers are essential for winter and many forget about them! Many associate thermals with your nana, but we can assure you they can be stylish. Invest in some cosy thermal leggings or a thin thermal vest you can wear under any of your wardrobe pieces. Having a great base layer is guaranteed to keep you warm and cosy all day.
Add some knitwear
A cosy knit is great for layering and will help trap heat. To make layering easier, go for a thin material top here instead of a chunky jumper ( that will come next!). If wool isn’t your thing, opt for a cotton or cashmere piece. Polo-necks and crew neck tops work well here.
Build your outfit
Now you have your base layers sorted, it’s time to build your outfit! Jeans are great to pop on over thermal leggings or try a midi skirt or dress. Layer dresses over polo necks or button-down shirts for a cool look and pop on cosy oversized jumpers over jeans and skirts.
Finish with Boots & Accessories!
Boots are a must for winter! Choose something that goes a bit up your leg, that will help stop heat escaping around your ankles. Pop on some cosy boot socks too to ensure your feet are kept nice and warm.
Next up is your coat. Your coat is worth investing in, especially in Ireland’s climate, you’ll be getting a lot of wear out of it. We would suggest a longline coat to keep you extra warm and it’s perfect for layering over any style outfit. Then lastly pop on a statement scarf, gloves and hat for some cosy glam!
